If you're searching for a trusted electrician in Boldmere, you're in the right place. We're proud to offer reliable and professional electrical services for homeowners and businesses across the area, combining years of experience with a friendly, down-to-earth approach that puts your safety and satisfaction first.

About Boldmere – A Welcoming Suburb with Strong Community Spirit

Boldmere is a charming residential area located just south of Sutton Coldfield, and while technically part of Birmingham, its close ties to Tamworth make it an ideal place for our team to serve. With its blend of leafy streets, local shops, and excellent schools, Boldmere has become a popular location for families, retirees, and young professionals alike.

Historically connected to the surrounding towns of Staffordshire and the West Midlands, Boldmere has seen steady growth over the years. Landmarks such as Boldmere Gate (one of the entrances to Sutton Park) and the Boldmere Shopping Parade reflect its character—friendly, well-kept, and full of local pride. Its proximity to major transport routes and rail links also makes it a convenient location for residents who work across the Midlands.

We know the area well and understand the types of homes and electrical setups you’re likely to find here—whether it’s a 1930s semi, a modern flat, or a converted Victorian terrace. That local knowledge allows us to offer tailored, practical advice and solutions that fit your property and your needs.

Our Electrical Services in Boldmere

Whether you need a small upgrade or a full consumer unit replacement, we provide a range of services to help you keep your home or business safe, efficient, and up to date.

Consumer Unit Upgrades

If your fuseboard is looking a bit tired—or you're not sure whether it's up to modern standards—it's worth having it checked. We install new consumer units that meet current regulations, complete with RCD and surge protection for peace of mind. A properly installed consumer unit is the heart of your home’s electrical system, and we ensure everything is done to the highest safety standards.

Upgrading your consumer unit can also support any future improvements to your home, like EV charging points, extensions, or upgraded lighting systems.

Lighting Upgrades

From replacing old fittings to designing and installing beautiful new lighting throughout your home or business, we love helping customers make the most of their spaces. Whether it's energy-efficient LED upgrades, under-cabinet lighting in your kitchen, or something bold and modern for your lounge, we’ve got the skills and experience to bring your ideas to life.

Good lighting can completely transform a room—and we’ll always take the time to talk through your options and give honest advice.

  • Coach light additions to large house

A large house required outside lighting upgrades. The front light above the main door need to be replaced and a movement sensor to be added. The rear required the addition of a coach light above the door. The problem was that no work could take place in the kitchen as recent renovations could not be disturbed. So a fused spur upstairs from an office allowed the power to the new light from the upstairs socket circuit..

A simple job to test the lighting circuit as part of an EICR turned up this gem.

Gap filling taken to an extreme with the foam completely filling the light switch but nothing having changedexternally.

A short time after the EICR was finished the foam was chopped out circuit tested fully soon after.

  • Electrical Fails - Melting plugs

Melting plugs and sheaths on wires happen more often than you might realise.

Poorly terminated wires explain some of them but more often it is due to DIY  installations combined with excessive loads being used on the socket.

The first melted plug was connected via a long extension to an outbuiding where the small Consumer unit pitcured was wired directly to it. Multiple freezers were running from it. This really was a fire waiting to happen.

The outdoor socket in the third image shows the sheath melting from the temperatures being reached in the copper cable. The sockets were being used to power extension leads running various outdoor heaters. Again luck was all that had prevented a fire.

Look at the socket calculator here to check whether you're over stressing your cabling and sockets.

Take Care When Selecting an Electrician!!

Many other electricians in the area are simply not interested in small electrical works. They want the choice jobs and will drop you like a hot potato when a bigger project comes along.

Others advertise for work as electricians despite having no qualifications. They thrive on the basis that you don't understand what they do and, as a result, overcharge for shoddy, often dangerous, work.

This of course is not limited to Tamworth, the same happens in other areas such as Sutton Coldfield, Lichfield and elsewhere in the surrounding area.

I set up Tamworth Electricians to fill a gap in the domestic sector. I want to provide you with a quality service that provides you with exactly what you need from an electrician.
